Saturday was a pretty relaxing day.
Got to do accountability in the morning. I really do love having it in the morning and often. It is a nice way to kind of vent/talk though a problem.
While I was sitting there in the coffee shop. I saw two couples doing premarriage counseling. I started thinking, being a pastor means that they have a pretty interesting work schedule. Most of the chruch meetings are done on the weekend, because all the deacons and people in the church are free then. Just something I was noticing.
Then I went back home and slept because my date was sick, so we had to reschedule for next week. Which means I was late for my small group outing.
Out of the 6 guys in my small group, 2 showed up, 3 were busy, and 1 is MIA. We were bowling at Castro Valley bowl, and it was pretty funny. Ben hit one strike while he was talking on the phone. Then he didn’t have any more strikes for the rest of the day.
I could have won in our last game, but lost by one point because I can’t bowl straight. When I throw the ball, I always have a “turn the knob” motion on my right hand, so my ball always curves right.
So when there were 2 pins on the far left, I hung out on the line and tried to roll it straight. Which meant I just put my thumb on the ball and tried to not turn my hand. Then I just proceeded to slowly gutter the ball. =)
As for my small group, it is a pretty good group of guys. The only person I’m really worried about right now is the 1 MIA person. Not really sure where he is, but he wanted the small group outing. Which I set up mostly for him, so I was disappointed he didn’t show up. Even gave him a call but no response. Also haven’t seen him at church for the past week, so I might have to drive out to milpitas to see how he is doing.
Then after bowling we went to the chabot shooting range, but my friend didn’t bring his guns, and I don’t have any. I also have never been there, however we can’t rent guns there, so we left. However, we saw some really nice rifles people were using, and the gunshot echoing through the hills is really cool. When I go biking around there, I hear the gunfire all the time.
Finally, Noel had to leave so it was only Ben and I. He ended his south beach diet early so he could eat pizza with me. We found a coupon on the car windshield across from us, so we ended up with a large supreme pizza and a medium sausage pizza. The funny part was at the end, Ben started to calculate all his calories from the pizza. It was a good amount =)
We had a good time talking about things. At the end, he had this one fun question for me. He was using napkins to soak up a little bit of the grease on the pizza. So he used at least 15 sheets of napkins. His question was “If you saw all these napkins, would you think I am very dirty, or I am very clean?”
I guess my answer caught him off guard, because he never had anyone answer it the way I did. For me, I would think the person is dirty or clean based on the way they placed their dirty napkins. If it was all neatly put on the plate it would say clean, if it was just randomly everywhere, I would think dirty.
That is the detective in me that looks for clues. Just like that fun nickname I had in elementary school where my friends called me “Encyclopedia Wong” .
