Day off with Pliney

IMAG1939

So for today, I took a random wednesday day off. My company gives us two personal days a year. Usually, I use the personal day on my birthday, however my birthday landed on a saturday this year, so I have not used my days yet.

That meant I would take a day off today, because Monk’s Kettle in the city had Pliney the younger on tap for a charity. It was 10 dollasr fro a 10 oz pint of pliney.

That is the beer if you wonder what it is. Essentially it is a triple IPA so it is really alcoholic. However, because it is really alcoholic, the beer is sweeter and not as bitter.

Anyways, Jaime meets me up in front of monk’s kettle at around 10:45. I actually got there around 10:35, and when I got there, the line was already around the corner. In my mind, I believe a lot of the people in the front arrived there at least 30 minutes before me. Jaime came buy with bagels and we just waited in line.

Random people walking down the street would ask us what was happening. As we were waiting outside, one of the neighbor starts blasting music out the window for us. It was really nice of her.

As we waited in line, I realized we were in the “grey zone area”. Monk’s Kettle was selling out two tickets and gave it to maybe the first 70-ish people. Then after that they were selling the pints per group of people. I think I was around the 100 person to get in (we were in the massively grey area for getting beer). So we waited around 2 hours to get into the place. Jaime and I got into the bar at around 12:30. We were pretty lucky because we got our pint. We ended up eating picked vegetables and pretzels.

Lovely Pliney the Younger. Smile I was talking to jaime about waiting in lines, and she was okay with waiting in the city. Especially since it would be an interesting story.

My favorite moment was when we were in line standing on the main sidewalk, Jaime was the only girl in that spot, so random females would usually stop and talk to her. Not any of the guys standing around in line.

Back to being in the bar…  Jaime wanted to see when they 86’d the pliney the younger. That happened around 10 minutes after we got it. I think that was around 30 beers later. So the bartender went “Last Pliney”, and the crowd inside cheered, while the crowd outside was sad. Sad smile

zThen I got my passport picture taken. So I’ll go fill out the paperwork for my passport soon.
